Air India flight AI2379 from Phuket to Delhi encountered severe clear-air turbulence during its journey on August 4, causing the aircraft to briefly drop 300 feet and leaving 17 people injured before landing safely at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The Airbus A320neo aircraft was carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members when it faced the turbulence during cruise. The sudden disruption resulted in injuries to 13 passengers and four crew members, with injuries ranging from head bumps to minor fractures.

The flight reached Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport and landed safely at 11:07 IST. Following the incident, five passengers were discharged by the evening after receiving medical attention.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu visited the injured passengers at Fortis Hospital and assured them of support. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident to examine the circumstances surrounding the severe turbulence encountered by the aircraft.

The incident has also highlighted the importance of following onboard safety instructions, with passengers urging everyone to keep their seatbelts fastened throughout the flight to reduce risks during unexpected turbulence.
